The wine has been found there for years, but it was this spring, in March, it received the Fair Trade-certification. It is also the first white bag in box wine with that certification to be found at Systembolaget.
The wine is made of 80 % Chardonnay and 20 % Semillon from selected vineyards in Curico and Colchagua in central Chile. After fermenting in tanks of stainless steel in low temperature, a third of the wine has been stored in barrels of French and American oak.
Fairhills Santiano is described as fresh and fruity with hints of green apples, citrus, melon, tropical fruits and vanilla. The alcohol percentage is 13 % and it's recommended to serve at 8-10°C with dishes of fish and seafood, salads and also dishes of white meat.
Fairhills produces the wine in cooperation with Chilean Vineyards that has been producing Fair Trade-certified wine Chile for three years.
